mairehau merilsous market

 Date: 27 September 2020.

Mairehau's merryilcious market.

I wasn't able to be there on the day of the market but I helped the preparation of our items and stickers.

When we first heard about the market we all got excited, Rachel, Sophie and I decided to  group together to make a product for the market. I had brought up the idea of me making accessories and frilly things as a product and we agreed on it. We had also decided to sell plants, succulents and cacti.

After choosing the products and ideas, we had come across a problem where, what Miss Marshall had let us make and sell didn't line up with what Ms Boocock said. So eventually we had to choose between plants or accessories. Rachel was stubborn and still wanted to do both while me and Sophie decided it would be better if we did just plants. That was decided, Sophie and Rachel were in charge of planting.

We eventually settled on selling plants, with stickers. Choosing the group name and and making a "brand logo" was rather interesting. We had come up with a few name where we would disagree and agree on until Rachel has come up with this glorious idea where we would smoosh our last names together. Therefore the name "Lims" was created.

Our next step was to create a little plant mascot/logo for "Lims". Rachel and I were in charge of that while Sophie gave her opinion on what we drew. We came to a finalised logo, an adorable cacti with a pink flower on their head. We went home that day feeling ENERGISED and EXCITED.

On a Friday, on one day, we arranged Rachel to go to our houses (it was her ideA) to help us finish our product. Rachel came to my house and we designed the sticker. Then, the day was near, we had finished doing what we needed to do and the last things on the list to complete were the poster and the price tags.

On the day of the market I unfortunately had to go home early but at least I was there to help a tiny bit and see some of the progress.

We managed to get $76(estimated), on the night of the market.

The cay moral.

Last term in English we read The cay.

The moral of the story that I understood from the themes of the book was "Sometimes you need to trust the person who you despise a little in certain situations."

I give The cay 4.5/5 stars. It was a really good book that touched heavy topics such as racism and the war.  But I feel the ending was too empty or un-informative. In my honest opinion, an epilogue would be very nice to have.

My book I am reading is called "Paper creations" by Gay Merrill Gross.

I have not read the first chapter, but only the introduction. I think that this book will be about origami history and how to make instructions.

Will this book have instructions or will it be a book with history and other facts ?

Did Japan create the first paper origami?

The information I have currently read is that, first origami  was used to decorate but then it is now a expression of art. The book cover was a attention grabber, the pretty decorative papers and the neatly folded shapes were really enticing.

Global warming

 G L O B A L  W A R M I N G

In 52 words.

We’ve all seen it, heard it and talked about it. It’s becoming a big problem and it’s slowly becoming worse. Animals are becoming extinct, habitats are disappearing and sea levels are rising. Islands are sinking underwater, that means more people will be homeless. Can’t you see? Global warming is a big problem.

cartoon task

C A R T O O N  T A SK

Scene One:  At home

I can see a small space and dim light. It reminds me of the burrows I have seen on tv that animals dig out as their home. I can see they are all huddled together sleeping so there is not a lot of room. The inside of the burrow is brown so it is dirt that has been dug under the ground.

Scene Two: First activity of the day

First they peek out of their burrows and scurries out. Then they spot a fruit and it's pink. It looks like a pomegranate and they squabble around and try to get it. Lastly one lucky meerkat strokes it lovingly like it was so precious, like an expensive gem. They stare at it hypnotised.

`Scene Three:  A feared enemy

A vulture comes swooping in and lands on the branch, it flexes its claws and looks at the meerkats. Intimidating. The meerkats are scared, shooketh. Then vulture grabs the fruit with its strong sharp claws and flies away with the PRECIOUS fruit and the meerkats scurry behind, on the chase. Chasing after the vulture.

Scene Four:Enemies revenge

The meerkats try to grab onto the fruit and take it away from the vulture's STRONG claws, first the meerkats are unsuccessful, the vulture flings the meerkat off  and then they decide to start grabbing onto each other and they make a trail. The vulture starts flying and tries to make them fall. The vulture lets go.

Scene Five:The Rescue

The fruit and meerkats start tumbling down, the meerkats gasp. Then it quickly becomes a game of catch and the meerkats succeed in taking the fruit. BUT they drop it and the vulture takes the fruit and flies into a rock. The meerkats GASP and look at their precious fruit tumbling down.

Scene Six:Sport nirvana

They catch the fruit and start passing the fruit and [INSERT COOL EPIC SLOW-MO MONTAGE]. They looked so proud they probably thought they looked cool.

Scene Seven:The End

The meerkat runs ahead and scores the goal, the others applause and and it falls and is a bad fruit now. The vulture flies crookedly into the distance.

Everyday when we go to English we read a book (of our own choice),for 15 minutes.
The book I'm reading is Dreams and Visions by Margret M. Bowater.

This is a non-fiction book about learning how to interpret your
dreams and different meanings behind them. In this book she
talks about the different types of dreams and who or what you find
in them. She also talks about your natural cycle of sleep and dreams.

I have nearly finished this book and have found this book quite
interesting. I have learnt about REM stage (rapid eye movement stage), the
dream field, types of dreams, level of dream, figures, entities and guides
in your dreams, warnings and prophetic dreams.

I must say, I really enjoyed read her book. It was really fascinating. I must say,
I agree with the majority of all her information. It is more in depth with
information unlike the websites I first used as an information source (and

Magpies are back and they're wrecking havoc!

It’s magpie season and those aggressive birds have been pecking and swooping down on posties, bikers, cyclists and pedestrians. Some encounters with these birds have been fatal. Don’t worry though! The Christchurch city council removes these aggressive birds safely without doing them any harm.

My bird mascot ft bad picture

゚+*:ꔫ:*< >*:ꔫ:*+゚゚+*:ꔫ:*<>*:ꔫ:*+゚゚+*:ꔫ:*< >*:ꔫ:*+゚

"Hello, my name is Genevieve. I am a mute swan. My birthday is on the 28 July! I really like dolls and puppets, I plan to make many! Don't forget or I'm coming to hunt you! Hehe,, Just kidding!"

Why did I choose a mute swan and why?
I chose a mute swan for my mascot because their personality and how people sometime see them. They are often portrayed as imitating, or loud obnoxious birds. They take over native bird species and seem super violent right? Well, they are called "mute swans" for a reason, they are actually less vocal than other swans hence the name "mute." They are also are just intimidating, not violent. That's how they win their fights.
Well, what does that have to do with myself?

You see, I say I can do this and this (yes I actually can though), but when it comes to actually doing it, I'll refuse and what I usually say is really just me being imitating and probably is half true. When you see me with my friends you will see me talking a lot or maybe be super energetic, but really I'm probably the quietest in my friend group sometimes. You get it?
I choose my mascot Genevieve because I am a mixture of busy, intimidating and neatness and staying clean!

What does the bird symbolise?
Mute swans (or swans) can be considered a feminine symbol associated with the moon. The swan is also considered a masculine symbol because it associates with Apollo, Greek god of the sun.

What are a group of swans called?
A group of swans is called a "flock of swans." According to the oxford dictionary a group of swans is called a "wedge of swans", others say that" bevy of swans" is also a correct term.

What are swans called?
A mother swan is called a "pen", a father swan is called a "cob"and a young swan are called "cygnet."

What other breeds of swans are there?
There are Mute swans(Cygnus olor), Black swans(Cygnus atratus), the Black-necked swan (Cygnus melanocorypha), Coscoroba swan(Coscoroba coscoroba), Tundra swan(Cygnus columbianus), Trumpeter swan(Cygnus buccinator) and the Whooper swan (Cygnus cygnus).

What is the type of bird is the swan?
The swan is the largest waterfowl species of the "subfamily Anserinae, family Anatidae (order Anseriformes)"

Cats are better pets than dogs. Yes, you could probably come up with a fair argument but don’t worry, dogs are cute too.

But you can't deny the fact that all cat aren't boring, aloof animals. If you still disagree, here are some amazing traits of a cat. They are so playful, they always play fight with each other, start wars with the neighbours cats and chase things around. When they do that, they are so cute!

Cats also purr when you give them hugs or when you let them sleep on you! When I facetime with my friend she always tells me stories about what happens with her cats. They always play fight or walk into her room while trying to turn off facetime, especially Alice! One time I was calling with her and she pointed her camera towards her cat, Alice and she was playing with a piece of pin, shiny plastic and purring while chasing it! The whole scene was so adorable! This shows that cats can be better pets than dogs and that they are not just aloof, fluffy creatures but friendly, adorable, cuddly and playful pets!
